SAOC's treatment guidelines are now available to more than 60% of the healthcare insured population, and growing. Negotiations are under way with schemes representing another 30% of the population. The benefit of having access to evidence based guidelines applied with the objective of establishing a standard of care based on appropriateness and quality as opposed to cost is evident. SAOC believe that by introducing the principle of appropriate care delivery together with quality assurance principles, cost-efficiency would be a natural consequence.
