In a restructuring of the URC, SAOC announced the appointed of a chairperson and a deputy. Dr C Slabber will remain in the position of chairperson and will be assisted by Prof Paul Ruff as vice-chairperson. Dr Slabber will in future primairly be responsible for the development and maintenance of the clinical guidelines and Prof Ruff will oversee the peer review programme. Dr Slabber will be assisted by Dr Bernardo Rapoport in the Clinical Guidelines Committee.
The peer review committee will comprise three sub-committees - radiation therapy, chemotherapy and hematology. Chemotherapy will be further subdivided into clinical disciplines such as breast cancer, aero/GIT cancers and Gynae/GU cancers.
