During the August 2006 roadshow SAOC announced the successful completion of its new SQL-based treatment authorisation program. It is Internet-based, operates over networks and on any servers without slowing services down. Two-way automatic updating is now possible between practice and head office and no proprietary software is needed on the practice PC. Data collected via the old MS Access-based system will be incorporated into the oncology database and nothing will go to waste. Free text input is limited by the extensive use of drop-down menus which will go a long way to ensure that the quality of the data is maintained.
Installation started 28 August 2006.
