As from 1 January 2007, more medical aid schemes will be using the SAOC Utilisation Review Committee and SAOC Tiered Oncology Treatment Guidelines to screen oncology treatment plans. Amongst the new schemes are Bestmed, Global MAS, KZN University MAS, Protea MAS and medical aid schemes that have contracted Careware (Neil Harvey and Associates) for oncology benefit management systems.
