Following extensive discussions, SAOC and Discovery Health have reached agreement on the application of funding principles for Discovery Members entered on clinical trials.
SAOC recently published its policy document for the funding of patients on clinical trials and Discovery Health has agreed to apply this guideline as published.

SAOC believes that patients receive optimal care when participating in clinical trials. Clinical trial participation ensures that treatment standards are unified as much as is possible, irrespective of where a patient receives treatment. Participation also ensures that patients receive at least the best international standard of care, or promising new therapies where there is no standard of care.
